Heal sig is definetly needed. It helps give the good monks a break once in a while from healing the tank. The job is to use heal sig when ur not under heavy pressure. If u wanna use heal sig get the heck outa there and use it.

Whats the difference on the types of armor a Warrior can have? I was leaning towards using the Platemail armor.

Triple Chop
Bull's Strike Bonetti's Defense/Dolyak Signet (for extended tanking) Watch Yourself Shield Stance Healing Signet Mending Touch/Purge Conditions Rebirth Armor: Ascalon is good for purely phys tanking, but i'd go with Gladiators in any other situation. Runes: Tactics helm, Minor Tactics, Minor Strength, Minor Axe, Super Vigor, Super Absorb Weapons: 10% Furious axe of Fortitude (15^50 +30 or +5 +30), Zealous Axe of Defense (1/-1, +5, +5 armor), Longbow That's the one I used in FoW while I was farming. It's a pretty standard, solid build. Use bull's strike to pull melee enemies off the casters. |

If i am using the swords build, which armor would be best. I am leaning towards getting Platemail, any suggestions?

I would say go with gladiator armor unless u are specifically targeting physical damage only mobs...or rather mobs that do primarily physical damage...then go for ascalon or plate i think....or if u have enough cash to have both sets :P
I personally use glad's everywhere but pvp |

its up to the monk to heal the party. warriors and non-monks do not nessecarily need a self-heal. in this case, it would lower the build's dps. anyways, the build has +armor and +blocking, so thatll relieve perssure off the monk better than constantly giving urself -40 armor for a 120-something heal. now stop bitching about why players count on monks to heal them. thats why the damn class was made. in this case, the build doesnt need heal sig. in other cases, it might.
to sparrow: this build barely uses energy. only 100 blades and shield stance once in a while i suggest either platemail armor or knight's armor. knight's would help u tank, while platemail will help against eles. if u find this build energy-intensive, get a zealous sword and you will be fine. |

Playing both monk and nonmonk characters, I've learned just how important a self heal is. The largest problem comes when the team is under intense pressure, and you have multiple teammates hovering at low health. As a monk, at that point you are busting everything you can hit to try to keep the party member with the lowest health alive, and other party members may find that they aren't getting the healing that they need even if they are only one hit away from death.
For example, you are said Warrior. Two party members, including one Monk are only at 1/10 health, barely alive. You are at 1/5 health, but any strong attack can finish you off. With a self-heal, you can help support yourself, while you let the monks save key party members (other monks), or party members that can't take effective self heals (E/Me nuker that depends on AoR). Personally, my last two skills on any bar are a res, and a self heal, and I could never imagine taking anything else. |

i do play a f*cking monk, u turd.
IM NOT SAYING THAT SELF-HEALS SUCK. IF ANYTHING, THEY ARE IMPORTANT. BUT, IN THIS SPECIFIC CASE, IT IS NOT NEEDED! +ARMOR AND +BLOCK IS ENOUGH. TO ADD IN A HEAL SIG WOULD GREATLY REDUCE FUNCTION AND DPS OF THE BUILD. WHY DO YOU NOT SEE THIS? DO I HAVE TO QUOTE MYSELF? I SAID, "IN THIS CASE, THE BUILD DOESNT NEED HEAL SIG. IN OTHER CASES, IT MIGHT." NOW, THE MAKER OF THE THREAD IS SATISFIED WITH THE BUILD. STOP WHINING ABOUT NO HEAL SIG! @Jaws Of Doom: if two members are at 1/10 hp and u are at 1/5 hp, then ur monks were probably asleep. either that, or your team is utterly retarded and aggroed 2+ groups. @drupal: defy/endure pain are complicated skills. if it gives u +200hp, and u go down to 150hp while its on, then the skill ends, ur at -50hp. if a monk heals you, u instantly die. a bit tricky, thats why im no fan of it. @Sparrow316: Dragon Armor does help against elemental damage, but not physical damage. so its up to u to make the decision: u can either have extra armor against elemental damage or extra armor against physical damage. if u choose vs. ele armor, go with full Platemail. if u choose vs. physical armor, go with full Knight's OR full Wyvern. if you have factions or nightfall, go with +health armor. otherwise, if i were u, id stick with the Knight's armor. ~Xeones Last edited by Xeones The Great; Mar 14, 2007 at 09:44 PM // 21:44.. |

If your at -50, the heal wouldn't kill you as i don't even think there is a heal that heals for less then 50 ( at 12)

u gotta understand this is a glitch. when u get healed at -50, the game realizes that u shouldve been dead the whole time and kills ya.

Xeones, you have obviously never played a monk for more than five minutes. I really dont think anyone believes you. If you had played a monk you would understand whan they do and realize that people should have a self heal.

I never carry heal sig....2 second cast time and -40 armor is a big NO-NO. But at the same time I try not to count on my monks 24/7. Sometimes you get bad ones and sometimes they're just too busy. Therefore I carry at least 1 form of self heal. As the saying goes, "If you want it done right you gotta do it yourself". As far as having 1 skill slot reserved for healing and me losing DPS for it...BIG FRIGGIN DEAL. If a build is done correctly you may not even need all 7 skill slots "just for damage". (8th slot is a rez)
On a side note. If I'm on a team with a bad monk I won't just ragequit. I'm not a poor sport. I'll stick it out with any group good or bad. -60dp? Don't care! Some people like to play GW under a microscope where everything needs to be precise and perfect. I for one will never be that anal. For those that are that anal well...you'll be passed up for Heroes/Hench. G'day. |

unless in an elite area, a "good" party should be able to stay away from that situation.

you know what, this is all up to sparrow. i dont wanna discuss who does and doesnt bring their precious self-heal. sparrow, u wanna RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing bring a self-heal, go ahead! i just posted here to make a build, yet 5+ people start whining and crying about how theres no selfheal. he likes the build. he wanted a build, thats what i gave him.
on a side note, i would rather have +armor and shield stance than a crappy 2 sec casting -40 armor self-heal anyday. but again, its ur game, make ur own choices. i didnt in any way mean to "insult" the monks. i was just pointing out that a self heal is NOT 100% ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NEEDED. if it screws up the synergy of the build, then why do it? theyre not always needed. period. end of discussion. goodbye. |
